On an annual basis, the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) publishes highlights of the superannuation industry.
Its annual bulletin comprises statistics on funds and membership profiles, key financial performance metrics, financial position, fees and expenses.
Highlights from APRA’s June 2020 bulletin include:
- Superannuation assets totalled $2.9. trillion at 30 June 2020.
- Over five years from June 2015 to June 2020, total super industry assets increased 44.0 per cent.
- $121.0 billion of contributions were made for the year ended June 2020.
APRA is an independent statutory authority that supervises institutions across banking, insurance and superannuation and promotes financial system stability in Australia.
